What is a Privacy Contact Officer?

View printable version of this page

The Privacy Contact Officer PCO should be your first point of contact for advice on privacy matters related to that agency. The Office strongly encourages each agency to have a PCO. Ask if the agency has a PCO and what they can do to help you. A PCO will also be able to tell you how to approach our Office for further advice if this is necessary.

The Office also maintains a directory of all PCOs. If you need to make contact with the PCO of an Agency about a complaint or a privacy matter ring the Privacy Enquiries Line on 1300 363 992 or email pco@privacy.gov.au.

PCOs not currently part of the Network may also contact the Privacy Enquiries Line for more details on how to join the Network. The Office coordinates a network of PCOs, usually organising meetings four times a year to discuss current privacy issues.
